My name is Michael and I live in the beautiful Pfronten im Allgau. I was born in Füssen (1987), and grew up surrounded by bees. As long as I can remember, my parents took me with them to visit their bee hives. As a kid I was so fascinated by the fact that so many little beings were instrumental in the production of our honey, as well as the production of beeswax candles. I have many fond memories of my father during long winter nights preparing our candles. Today, I operate our beekeeping business together with my mother.

Since 2016, I've dedicated myself to the traditional methods of beekeeping, known as "Zeidlerei". This alternative style of beekeeping is where bees live in tree hollows, logs and cliff faces. I hope that next year I'll be able to invite a natural swarm of bees to take up residence in my own log hive.

I have a few hobbies, which include fell running, hiking, reading and researching our past and heritage.

Several times each year, you can find me at medieval festivals in southern Germany, as a member of Der Rodungsfreien - a group of 2-6 friends fascinated with life in Germany during the 1400's.

It was my passion for the Middle Ages and bees that brought me to the traditional style of beekeeping (Zeidlerei). In my photo gallery you'll find not only photos of my bee activities, but also my activities at medieval festivals. I hope you like my photos!
